View Transaction Audit History

Every change to a transaction or journal entry is logged with an audit trail showing who made the change and when.

Overview

Propio maintains a complete audit trail for every transaction and journal entry. Any time a change is made — whether it's a category update, a vendor reassignment, or any other edit — the change is logged with a timestamp and the name of the person who made it. This gives you full visibility into the history of every transaction, which is invaluable for quality control, team oversight, and client accountability.

Steps

1. Select a Transaction

Navigate to your client's Transactions page. Find the transaction whose history you want to review and click on it to open the transaction detail panel.

2. Open the Transaction Detail Panel

The transaction detail panel displays all of the transaction's current information, including its amount, date, description, category, and vendor. From here, you can access additional details about the transaction's history.

3. Click the Audit/History Tab

Within the transaction detail panel, look for the Audit or History tab. Click on it to switch from the transaction details view to the audit trail view.

4. Review the Timeline of Changes

The audit history displays a chronological timeline of every change made to the transaction. Each entry in the timeline shows:

  • What changed — the specific field that was modified (for example, category, vendor, amount, or memo)
  • Previous value — what the field was set to before the change
  • New value — what the field was updated to
  • Who made the change — the name of the user who performed the edit
  • When it happened — the date and time of the change

Use this timeline to trace the full lifecycle of a transaction from its initial import through every subsequent edit.

Summary

The audit history feature provides full transparency into every change made to a transaction or journal entry. By reviewing the chronological timeline, you can see exactly what was changed, by whom, and when. This is particularly useful for maintaining data integrity, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring accountability across your bookkeeping team.
